Zettelkasten
Social scientist Niklas Luhmann was highly productive, and is considered the godfather of the Zettelkasten method ("slip box" in German).
A "Zettel" ("note, slip of paper", unit of knowledge) is comprised of 3 things:
- a unique identifier (like a timestamp)
- body / content
- footer / references (if not originally yours)
You can link from one Zettel to the next using a reference. When you link two concepts, state explicitly why. Do so at the top or at the bottom (like this entry).
You can use "hub notes", a Zettel that's a list of Zettels, to organize your notes. You can also use "structure notes" to capture more complicated relationships, such as with a mind-map. It's also possible to have more than one referent to a Zettle, thus they form a lattice structure.
You'll note similarity between Zettelkasten and this Obsidian collection.
